Goodwin has developed the Anti Pressure Surge (APS) device to extend the capability of its Dual Plate Check Valve into more severe pump applications.

The Dual Plate Check Valve is regarded as a Non Slam Check Valve. However, there are certain applications on pumps where the design engineer perceives, because of the anticipated pressure surge and ensuing water hammer problems, there is no choice but to use a nozzle type check valve. The Goodwin Dual Plate Check Valve fitted with Anti Pressure Surge device reduces the pressure surge by 40% thereby enhancing the Goodwin’s valve performance and increasing its suitability for those applications where nozzle type check valves would have previously been considered.

The opportunity to use the Goodwin Check Valve fitted with APS devices in lieu of nozzle check offers the design engineer considerable weight and cost savings.
